Internet Control Up One Notch

One point of this year, I have set my Internet filtering software, Netnanny to only limit my Internet usage from 8am until 12am. Since then, it has helped me to control my time spent on Internet. But I don’t think that is good enough because when I offline on 12am, I will only sleep maybe by 12.30am or so. So, I have decided to take it higher by changing it to end at 11pm instead and two days ago, I have just changed it new setting. If you do struggle with spending too much time on the Internet, perhaps you can do the same. But first you need a good software and I recommend Netnanny 🙂

What Happened When Your Car Road Tax Was Expired?

The answer is, you will get a summon 😀 . Two days ago, while driving back home after supper, I bumped into a police roadblock. When the policeman checked my road tax, to my horror it was expired for nearly 3 months! After pulling over my car, I got down and tried my best to beg those policemen not to summon me. I know what you’re thinking now, Yes they did hinted for it, even in a direct manner for ‘duit kopi’. But I told them I can’t because I’m a Christian. Thus, I got a summon. This expensive RM300 summon is a BIG lesson for me to make sure I remember to renew my road tax on time. At the same time, I know I have done the right thing as a Christian and that pleases God 🙂

Protect Yourself With Netnanny

Internet is like a double-edged sword, the good and the bad. The good meaning you can do almost everything with Internet, e-mails, e-banking and more “e”. The bad of Internet are like pornography site, gambling site, addictions (like facebook and games) and more. The solution? Unsubscribe your Internet broadband? But you can still WIFI it.

For me, the most effective solution to this problem is Internet filtering software. But you need to find the right. Otherwise, you will face other headaches from that softare. A good Internet filtering software has to be user-friendly, effective but at the same time not affecting your browsing speed.

After trying out a few Internet filtering softwares, the best I ever have is NetNanny. So, I would like to recommend NetNanny to you especially if you want to protect you and your children from Internet pornography. Here is how I go about it. After I have installed it and tested it, I email the administrator’s password to my two reliable Christian friends. And then I deleted it.

What if you got blocked by NetNanny when you are accessing a decent website? This is what I do. I have a text file for me to update. In this file, I have two categories: To block and To unblock. After reaching to one point, you can go to meet one of your reliable Christian friends bringing together your laptop. Then you access to the Internet and ask your friend to retrieve the password for you to update your NetNanny according that that text file. If inconvenient or you need it urgently, you can email to ask from them.

If you need my help to keep the password for you, I will be happy to do so for you. Since I am always online, I believe I can email back the password very fast 🙂

You can even set what time you want to allow or disallow yourself from online (Myself, I have set no Internet from 12am until 8am everyday). There is a trial version for you to try. Lastly the link is www.netnanny.com. By the way, I earn no commission from sharing this. Hope to help as many people as it has been a great tool to me 🙂

Freedom Of Religion In Malaysia

I am not someone who is into politic but if I have one wish for Malaysia, it would be the wish that all Malaysian to be given the freedom of religion. In Malaysia, all Malay is under syariah law and not under civil law. And one of the syariah laws is all Malay needs to be a Muslim. Hopefully I can see this wish come true one day before I leave this earth.

Lift No 6

2 March 2011 was an interesting day for me. After attending training in our own office at 26th floor, we all then went for lunch together. After waited for a while, finally lift number 6 arrived. Some of us went in first as the lift could not fit all of us. There are fourteen of us inside the lift including a few who are not from BCS Information Systems.

As the lift reached 3rd floor, it stopped. A moment later, it jerked a little and stop again. Then we realized that we were trapped! And it was my first time got trapped inside a lift.

WIthout delay, one of my colleagues, pressed the alarm button and telephone button to talk to the security guard. About fifteen minutes later, we began to hear some sound from the outside and saw the mouth of the lift slowly open itself. As the door of the lift open, we felt refreshed as the cool air came in.

I am grateful that I am fine. Can’t imagine what will happen if I got trapped in that lift for longer period of time, say an hour. I am also grateful to think about what if the lift drop while we were climbing up to the ground.

Thank you God for this experience and this will be one of the things for me to be grateful for on 2 March 2011.

p/s – By the way, try not to take lift number 6 in Bangunan Tun Razak 🙂
