Shopping
Created: Saturday, 17 March 2007Looking for the best place for IT or gadget shopping? No need to think much. Just go to Low Yat Plaza. There, you can find the cheapest laptop in town, desktop computer and so forth. In the past, before the existence of Low Yat, IT market was monopolied by Imbi Plaza. But now, Low Yat took over. By the way, Low Yat Plaza is located not very far from Imbi Plaza. Almost all the time, Low Yat Plaza is filled with lots of people especially in IT floors (2nd and 3rd floor).
But, if you want to shop for VCD (I mean original VCD / DVD), I would recommend S&M Plaza. Last week, I went there and it has changed so much. The ground floor has changed completely. Those days, they sell many different things like books, magazines, comic, plants and VCD. Now, this floor just sell handphone and nothing else.
Back to my VCD shopping, I went to 3rd floor. When I reached there, I was shocked to see those VCD shop. There are mainly 3 main VCD shops, Hero Comic World, Megatop and Classic Animation Top. These shops are so comprehensive. You can find almost any types of movies, drama series (Korean, Taiwan, Hong Kong), MTV, Japanese animations and etc. The other thing I observe is price. I think due to so many competitors of their own, the price should be much cheaper also logically. I saw complete series for Lord of the Ring at RM54, a pack of five Beyond CD/VCDs at RM30 and Spider Man at RM9.90.
That day, I bought 2 cheap items. One is Danny Chan's MTV DVD at RM9.90. Second one is a book with 2 VCDs (they are package together) about soccer. This cost at unbelievable price, RM4.90! But these 2 items are in "discount corner". And, today, I brought an original DVD cartoon at just RM9.90!
Audio CD
For those music lovers who want to shop for Audio CD. I would recommend you to buy from Sungei Wang. The shop is called Victoria, located at Lower Ground, in between BB Plaza and Sungei Wang. Normally they will give you 10% discount for normal CD. But if it is a new release, it will much cheaper. Also, their library is quite comprehensive. I got a CD from this shop which I can't find it from Tower Record. And, one of the sales person there also seem knowledgable. He knows many songs, including very old songs.
Besides that, you can also try a few CDs before you buy. For me, when I want to buy Chinese CD, I have a problem. The problem is I can't read Mandarin. So, this trial can help me to get the right CD. Of course when you decide to ask them to try, you should at least decide you are going to buy at least one cd from them. Otherwise, they might think negatively about you.
