Verses of the Year

..., he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Here, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." - Mark 12: 28-29.

... with God all things are possible - Matthew 19: 26 (faith in God; Our God is a BIG GOD.)

I can do all this through him who gives me strength - Philippians 4: 13 (rely on God; man's partnership with God.)

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. - Proverbs 4: 23

... let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. - Hebrews 12: 1-2

Spiritual/Character Growth

Why: Because I think overall I am not as happy as I needed to be especially last two years (2008 and 2007).

Bible Verses: A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. - Proverbs 17: 22

Emotionally/Socially/Relationship

  • To get steady.

Why: Because I need a partner in life and hope to have my own family one day.

Bible Verses: Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If they fall down, they can help each other up. But pity those who fall and have no one to help them up! - Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10.

Physically

  • To have career stability - To get confirmed by March, 2009 and stay with the job until end of the December, 2009. How: Work hard and work smart lo. Need to constantly review own performance and talk about problem to superior before the problems become bigger.

Why: The most challenging part in our career in the early stage which is our probation period. If we keep changing jobs regardless of any reasons, valid or invalid, most of our energy and time will be given to all these probation period. On the other hand, if we stay or work longer in the same company, we will get more competent with our work. This means that our job become easier and more auto-pilot. This means we can afford to spend more time to focus on other important areas in our life. Besides that, if we are always under probation, we might not afford or entitled to take any paid-leave. But, if we have been a long time permenant employee, not only we got paid-leave to take, but we might be given more paid-leave as well, proportion to our years of service in our company. Also, we spend at least eight hours daily (one third of the day. another one third is for sleep.) in our working place and if we struggle to do well, how do we pull through these eight hours everyday? Also, if we have been working for long in a company, we will have the chance to be entitled bonus, increment and promotions.

Bible Verses: You are the salt of the earth. ... You are the light of the world. ... let you light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. - Matthew 5: 13-16.
  • To have healthy weight - To gain weight of six kilograms by the end of June, 2009. How: Meaning one kilogram in one month. Need to finish up two bottles of Nitro-Tech by end of June, 2009.

Why: Because I am slightly underweight (55-56kg now) and I want to have a normal healthy weight (60-65kg).
  • To be healthy - Not to take any MC until end of December, 2009. How: Need to exercise once or twice a week. Need to take supplement (Vitamic B, C, E, bilberry, salmon omega-3, coenzyme Q10, milk thistle and dandelion, siberian ginseng and ginkgo biloba, multi carotene, concentrated fruits and vegetables, calcium magnesium, double-x, fruit and vegetable fiber) regularly. Need to sleep for seven to eight hours daily.

Why: If I always get sick or weak, how do I achieve all these goals?

Great Comission

  • To be involved in the Great Comission - Conduct AND sit in at least seven bible studies (seven plus seven is forteen involvement) by the end of December, 2009. To be involved in outstation mission trip (Melaka), at least two trips by the end of December, 2009. How? Need to find some brothers and sisters to discuss and plan out together.

Bible Verses: Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations. baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28: 18-20

Bible Verses: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. - Matthew 25: 35-36

S.M.A.R.T. Goals Guide

Specific: Get into the details (You can use 5W 1H as guide: Who, What, Where, Which, Why and How). Example, "I want to loose weight." is NOT specific. "I want to loose ten kilograms in one year." is more specific. Next is to ask How to loose ten kilograms in one year. Be specific on the How also. Example, "I want to exercise more" is NOT specific. "I want to run five kilometers twice a week." is more specific.

Measurable:

Attainable:

Realistic: Trace back the history to make Realistic goals. Example, if your yearly sales is one million in average, then having a goal to achieve ten million sales in a year is not too realistic.

Time-based: By When you want to achieve for your goals? Example, "I want to ... by end of June." and not just "I want to ... ". However, the dead-line should be realistic.
