I remember one of the funny incidents happened when I was still a young Christian 16 years ago is when I prayed together with my spiritual mentor. As we prayer together, I realize that his prayer can really be pretty lengthy. Those days, in my mind, when pray to God, I need to close my eyes because I shouldn’t open my eyes because God is here. So during the prayer together, I tried my keep closing my eyes closed. But the problem is when I keep eyes close for too long, I began to feel a little dizzy. Later, when we plan prayer together, I felt struggle until I ask him this question, “Can I open my eyes when pray together?” He replied, “Who said you can’t open your eye during prayer?” 🙂

Some resemblances of The Journey vs Up

1. Both man actor is an old man. The Journey – Uncle Chuan; Up – Carl Fredricksen. Both wife no longer around and pretty ‘grumpy’

2. Balloon. The Journey – few balloons occasions like the first balloon during first scene, two man popping balloon using chest, balloon in the kid’s classroom and BIG hot air balloon. Up – too many balloons.

3. Fulling the dreams of your best friend. The Journey – Uncle Chuan’s best friend is the class monitor and his dream is to build a hot air balloon. After 50 years, that dream still not being fulfilled. After his death, his best friend Chuan want to do it to fulfill his dream. Up – Carl’s best friend is his wife and his wife’s dream is to go to Paradise Fall. They both tried many times to go there but unable. After some time after his wife’s death, he decided to fulfill his wife’s dream to go to Paradise Fall.

4. Friendship can be develop when both going through things together (for men especially). The Journey – Initially Chuan doesn’t like Benji but after doing things together (forced to), they begin to accept and tolerate each other and became friends. Up – Initially Carl doesn’t like Russell (the kid) but after going some journey together (forced to), they became friends.

5. Both movies got good feedback by majority ral generations to Germany, some people still break into giggles when he makes business calls on restaurant companies.

Thinking back, although I didn’t win first prize for any (because I can’t dance!), I have quite a number of times chosen under “Best-Dressed Competition” during corporate annual dinner or year end church banquet. In GHL for 1 year plus, I was chosen in year 2013 and 2014.

Indeed for most men, impurity (i.e lust, pornography and sexual immorality) is one of our biggest struggles. Even Christian men can easily fell into it. The battles are even getting more challenging with this technology era where smart phones and Internet data plan have gotten more affordable to many (Internet and The Devils). Being a Christian for 14 years, this area remains an ongoing struggle still. Here, I have listed some of my efforts in fighting against it:

1. 1. No smart phone – I think it has been about 5 years since the last time I use a smart phone.
2. 2. No data plan – Without a smart phone, I don’t need a data plan and my tablet is on WIFI mode.
3. 3. Installed kids launcher in tablet – With this free launcher application, my tablet could not access to any browsers and only limited to a few applications only.
4. 4. No internet at home – I used to have portable dongle/modem to access Internet from laptop but I cancelled it one year plus ago.
5. 5. Installed netnanny in personal laptop – Besides blocking myself from all those impurity websites, I also block Internet access from 8pm-8am during weekday and 12am-8am during weekday.
6. 6. I always remind myself not to bring company laptop and its adapter back or to drain as much battery if I really need to bring it back.
